Treasure Kids Learning Center
What We’ve Learned
Through the survey and various resources, we've discovered that childcare is a significant need, not only in our community of Hawley but also throughout Clay County.
According to a report prepared by First Children’s Finance (June 2024), the following gaps were identified:
141 additional childcare spots are needed in Hawley
1,345 spots are needed in Clay County
Since then, we’ve learned that these numbers have likely increased.
Additionally, we’ve gathered valuable insights from Hawley families and local early childhood resources. Many have expressed concern about the shortage of available spots, particularly for younger children (infant - age two).
Childcare Team Process
In December, the NOW team formed a dedicated group to explore the possibility of establishing a childcare center in the new building, which will replace the Hauge classrooms. Since then, we have taken the following steps:
Distributed a survey to assess the childcare needs of the community and county
Consulted with various state resources to gain valuable insights into the startup process
Identified key resources to support the establishment of the center
Reached out to grant writing experts for additional guidance and support
What We’re Discerning
As we continue to move forward, we are carefully reflecting on the valuable information we've gathered so far.
We are currently in the early stages of researching the establishment of a childcare center. Once we have gathered all the necessary insights, we plan to present our findings to the NOW team and the Vision Council.
We kindly ask the congregation to remain in prayer throughout this process, seeking God's guidance in discerning His direction for us. We are truly excited about this opportunity and the potential it holds for outreach and service to our community.
